JOHN FRIEDA
London-born John Frieda began his career assisting legendary stylist Leonard on Vogue shoots. He soon moved into editorial styling for leading magazines through the 1970s.
In 1975 he opened his first flagship salon in London’s West End. A year later he created Joanna Lumley’s pageboy bob for The Avengers, a cut that brought his name to a wide audience.
By 1988 he had three salons and launched his first prescriptive hair care line. In 1990, with Gail Federici, Frizz Ease debuted in the United States and the first US John Frieda salon opened in New York City.
Frizz Ease Serum became America’s number one styling product and remains a UK bestseller for frizzy hair. Today, the Mayfair salon on Aldford Street continues that standard of cut, colour and care.
